Plain-English summary
- Pica MD Viewer is a view-only Markdown reader. It reads the files you open and renders them on your Mac.
- Your documents never leave your device. We never see, upload, or store their contents.
- The app is read-only: it never modifies your documents.
- There are no accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporters, and no ads.
- The app makes a single, optional network call: the in-app "Report a bug" form. It runs only when you choose to submit it.
Data we receive about you: none — unless you choose to send feedback, in which case we receive only what you type plus your app/OS version and locale, so we can reply.
Geographic scope
Pica MD Viewer is available only in App Store regions where we have published it. See the app's App Store listing for the current list of supported countries. We do not offer the app in the European Economic Area, and this policy is not designed to satisfy the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
Because the app collects no personal data except the optional feedback you choose to send (see Section 5), the UK GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection have little practical application to the app. UK and Swiss users are nonetheless welcome to use it.
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Israel.
Your files
Pica MD Viewer is a sandboxed macOS app with read-only access to the files you explicitly choose to open — by double-clicking, using File ▸ Open, dragging a file onto a window, or browsing a folder you have opened. macOS grants the app a security-scoped bookmark to those files so it can re-open recent documents; this access stays on your Mac.
The app reads your documents only to render them on screen and in Quick Look. It never writes to, edits, or deletes your files, and it never transmits their contents anywhere.
What we collect
What we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit, or have any access to:
- The contents of any file you open
- Your name, photo, or any contact detail (except an email you choose to type into the feedback form)
- Your precise or coarse location
- Your IDFA (Apple's Identifier for Advertisers) or any device identifier
- Crash reports
- Feature-usage analytics
- Which documents you've opened, or how long you've used the app
What Apple knows
The app is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple, not us, sees your download and any App Store interactions (rating the app, leaving a review, deleting it). Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive no information about you from Apple beyond aggregated, anonymous download counts.
In-app feedback
Settings ▸ Feedback ▸ "Report a bug" lets you send us a message. This is the app's only outbound network request, and it runs only when you submit the form. If you submit it, the app sends:
- The message you typed
- Your email address, only if you choose to enter one
- Your app version, OS version, and locale
We use this solely to respond to you and fix issues. It is never sold or shared further. The feedback is delivered through a third-party form provider (Google Forms); their handling of the submission is governed by Google's privacy policy. If you don't use the form, none of this is ever sent.
Children
Pica MD Viewer is rated 4+ in the Mac App Store and is suitable for general audiences. The app collects nothing about anyone except the optional feedback a user chooses to send.
Your choices
- Don't use the feedback form and the app makes no network calls at all.
- Quit the app at any time.
- Delete the app to remove it from your Mac. The app stores only your preferences (such as appearance and content width) and recent-file bookmarks in user defaults; deleting the app removes them.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Effective" date at the top and, where practical, notify you inside the app on next launch. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
